Privacy policy

We collect as little as we can, we never sell your information, and you can leave our list any time.

What we collect

  • Your email address, if you sign up for the weekly briefing.
  • Basic site data, such as pages viewed and the general area you visit from, through analytics tools (for example Google Analytics). We do not store IP addresses in our own link logs.
  • Clicks on product links. When you click a “Check price” link, we count the click (which page, which product, when) so we know what readers find useful.
  • Messages you send us, if you contact us.

How we use it

  • To send the newsletter you asked for.
  • To understand which guides help families and improve them.
  • To answer your questions and fix mistakes you report.

Comments, questions and spam protection

Comments: when you leave a comment we collect the name, email address and (optionally) website you enter, plus your IP address and browser user agent, to moderate comments and prevent spam. Comments are reviewed before they appear; we use automated tools, including an AI model, to help sort comments for review. Your email address, IP address and browser details are not sent to the AI model. Text you write in a comment may be processed by it, with any email addresses, phone numbers and links removed first.

Ask KidBrief: when you submit a question we store the question, the optional details you choose to give (role, child’s age group, first name or nickname, email), and a record of your consent. We may edit and publish your question without your last name or email. Your email is used only to tell you if we answer your question, and we delete stored emails and names after 180 days. The question text may be processed by an AI model to help plan articles; your name and email are not sent to it. You can ask us to export or delete your questions at any time.

Spam protection: the comment form and the Ask KidBrief form use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not a bot, is submitting. Turnstile runs in your browser and sends technical information (such as your IP address and browser details) to Cloudflare for this check. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for details.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your information. We use a small number of service providers to run the site and the newsletter (our web host and email service), and they may only use your data to provide those services to us.

Affiliate links and cookies

Some product links are affiliate links. When you click one, the store you visit (for example Amazon or Bookshop.org) may set its own cookies to track the purchase and credit us. Those cookies are governed by that store’s privacy policy. Our site itself uses only the cookies needed to run it. How we make money.

Children’s privacy

Our site is written for parents, caregivers and educators. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter any time with the link in every email.
  • Ask us to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you.
  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
