The weekly briefing

A free parenting newsletter, every Tuesday: one short email in English and Spanish, with a section for families and one for directors.

  • For families: costs, financial aid, how to choose care, inclusive care and openings near you.
  • Director’s desk: licensing and policy changes, staffing, enrollment and the business of running a program.

We never sell your email.

Parent and child reading together, from KidBrief’s free parenting newsletter

What you get in the free parenting newsletter

Each issue takes about five minutes to read. First, you get the week’s child care news in plain English, with a link to every source. Then you get one practical guide, like how to get help paying for child care or what works for toddler tantrums. Finally, you get a short list of new KidBrief guides, so you never miss one.

Some weeks, we also flag deadlines, like when a financial aid waitlist reopens or a state program changes its rules. Those alerts can save a family real money.

Who it’s for

It’s for parents and caregivers of young children. It’s also for the teachers, directors and owners who run early education programs. So if you’re choosing child care, paying for it or working in it, this free parenting newsletter is for you.

How we make each issue

We pick the stories that matter most to families and programs. Then we sum them up in plain English and link to every source. Before anything goes out, a person reads and approves the whole issue. As a result, you get the facts without the noise.

Written for Massachusetts families and educators

We follow state rules and funding closely, including updates from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. That way, directors get the policy changes that affect their programs. Parents, in turn, get the deadlines that affect their budgets. In addition, every issue comes in English and Spanish.
